Stabilizes Post-meal Blood Sugar Levels
Maintaining reasonably normal blood glucose levels is essential for people with Type II diabetes. Clinical studies suggest that Glucocil functions as a natural and effective means of managing post-meal fluctuations in blood glucose levels. Minimizing blood sugar “spikes” (high and low levels) both helps one feel better and may aid in reducing the potential risks of diabetic complications.
Glucocil and spikes: A clinical trial done at the University of Minnesota (Minneapolis VA Hospital) showed that the use of Glucocil’s proprietary mulberry leaf extract before meals reduced the after-meal blood “sugar spike” levels by 24% on average.

Reduces Absorption Of Sugars
And Other Carbohydrates
Ingesting carbohydrates leads to blood sugar elevation and the intake of calories. The key enzyme at the end of the carbohydrate digesting process is alpha glucosidase, whose task is to release glucose from the more complicated carbohydrates. The proprietary mulberry leaf extract used in Glucocil is an alpha-glucosidase inhibitor: it works by reducing the efficiency of this carbohydrate breakdown, thus significantly delaying carb absorption. The majority of these unabsorbed carbohydrates just pass through the intestine and are eventually excreted from the body.
In one of our clinical trials, Glucocil mulberry leaf extract was shown to inhibit carbohydrate absorption by 21%, resulting in less elevation of post-meal blood sugar levels and lower calorie intake.
Helps the Body’s Insulin Work Better
Insulin, a natural hormone made by the pancreas, controls blood sugar levels and also enables the body cells (muscle, fat, liver) to use glucose for energy. Insulin sensitivity is defined as the ability of the cells to follow insulin’s instructions.
But in Type II diabetes, the body cells do not respond normally to insulin; the condition is called “insulin insensitivity” or “insulin resistance.” Not only are excessive amounts of insulin produced in response to a rise in blood sugar level but since insulin turns sugars into fat, more fats accumulate due to the higher level of insulin secretion.
In other words, people with Type II diabetes are caught in a feedback loop—a vicious cycle —that makes their situation goes from bad to worse. Insulin insensitivity leads to more insulin in the blood, which causes more fat accumulation which, in turn, causes greater insulin insensitivity. This is probably why 80% of newly diagnosed Type II patients are overweight.
Glucocil and insulin sensitivity
Healthy dietary programs and exercise (which usually cause weight loss) effect a definite improvement in insulin sensitivity. Besides affecting insulin sensitivity indirectly by enabling good dietary choices, the Glucocil formulation includes chromium, banaba extract, and alpha lipoic acid. As described in Clinical Research, each of these three natural ingredients has been shown to improve a different component of the problem. When combined in Glucocil, they work synergistically to directly promote insulin sensitivity.
Helps Reduce Appetite
Although managing healthy blood sugar levels requires one to stick to a low carb/low calorie diet, it’s hard to do so because low carb/low calorie diets make people feel hungry faster. People who have taken Glucocil report that their appetite was reduced both before and after meals.
Pre-meal appetite suppression: Many people reported that they feel less like eating about one hour after taking Glucocil. This likely comes from the combined effect of the mulberry leaf extract, banaba extract and two Cissus herb extracts.
Post-meal fullness: After taking Glucocil, people report retaining a sense of fullness/satiation for longer periods of time after eating. This effect mainly comes from the proprietary mulberry leaf extract, an alpha-glucosidase inhibitor that works by dramatically delaying carb absorption and thus delaying the return of hunger.
Promotes Weight Management
Since excess weight (especially abdominal fat) reduces insulin sensitivity, weight loss is a requirement for nearly everyone.
People have reported that Glucocil helps them to better control their body weight. This is likely due to the following factors:
Glucocil suppresses both pre-meal and after-meal appetite, thus reducing the desire to overeat.
Glucocil reduces absorption of sugars and others carbohydrates, resulting in lower calorie intake
Glucocil improves insulin sensitivity, enabling the body cells to better convert food into energy.
Other Benefits
Glucocil contains a variety of ingredients believed to improve the overall physical condition of people with diabetes, including blood vessel and nerve health. These include a) anti-oxidants; b) B-vitamins; and c) alpha lipoic acid. Descriptions of these ingredients can be found in the Clinical & Laboratory Research section.
