Four Ice Cream Recipes You Don’t Need a Machine to Enjoy

Hot weather is gripping the country again. Whether you’re being hit by a heatwave or not, it’s summer all over, which means we are longing for cold desserts. We love that our blog has existed for so long that it is a repository of great recipes. We use the search option and the recipes tag all the time to make choices about our dinners! But, while we have shared a blog on popsicles and one on frozen desserts, we’ve never had a blog focusing exclusively on ice cream recipes.

We wrote a blog almost exactly a year ago about buying the best low-carb ice cream from the store. It’s still a great guide. But nothing satisfies like homemade. Homemade ice cream is less expensive per serving, you control the ingredients and it’s often healthier. Today we’re sharing four recipes made in a variety of ways. The one thing they all have in common is that they don’t require an ice cream maker.

Mint Chip Ice Cream

Everyone has a different favorite flavor. We know that mint ice cream can be divisive — some love it for its refreshing bite others think it’s like eating toothpaste. We’re personally big fans, and we believe mint ice creams you make at home are great for people on the middle ground because you control how minty it is! We love the inclusion of chocolate chips in the recipe. Be sure to follow the step about melting and resetting the chocolate with some cream — regular chocolate chips are too solid. They will not be as enjoyable as you eat your ice cream. The extra step is worth it! A serving has 246 calories, two grams of protein, three grams of carbs and one gram of fiber. Get the recipe

Coconut Milk Ice Cream

This recipe couldn’t be easier. It’s also vegan, creamy and delicious. Despite being vegan, you can’t tell; it just tastes like a mild-flavored ice cream! Made with cashew butter, sugar-free maple syrup and (preferably) coconut extract, the flavor isn’t one you’ll get in stores, and it’s hard to explain other than saying that it’s delicious. Because of the cashew butter, it’s higher in protein than many ice creams. A serving has 116 calories, four grams of protein, four grams of carbs and two grams of fiber. Get the recipe.

Chocolate Ice Cream

No list of ice cream recipes could possibly be complete without a chocolate recipe! This recipe is a bit more complicated than the others because it uses eggs. The fat of eggs keeps it creamy and gives it a longer life in the freezer. It’s an excellent technique to learn. Cocoa can be added to other recipes on this list if you don’t want to make ice cream with eggs. But, this is a delicious, rich and extremely chocolatey option we just had to include! A serving has 267 calories, five grams of protein, 5.5 grams of carbs and one gram of fiber. Get the recipe.

Ice Cream With Cherries and Chocolate Chips

This flavor will be a massive hit for any fan of Cherry Garcia. The ice cream, made with heavy cream and almond milk, is flavored with vanilla and almond extracts. Then cherries and cocoa nibs are stirred in. It results in a fabulous ice cream that tastes a lot like the Ben and Jerry’s favorite. While Ben and Jerry’s version is cherry ice cream, most “cherry” flavored things are actually almond. We think it’s a winning dessert because it’s just so great! A serving has 133 calories, one gram of protein, eight grams of carbs and one gram of fiber. Get the recipe.

We think one of these recipes is sure to please you and help you stay cool. Read through them and try the one that sounds like your favorite!
